Subject: Responding to Atam Milan’s Recent Statement

Sir,

My warm greetings. I write to offer a balanced and sincere response to the recent statement issued by Mr. Atam Milan. Many Ambazonians had long hoped that whenever he resurfaced, he would bring clarity, accountability, and a concrete path toward progress. Sadly, his latest write-up repeats a familiar pattern: he critiques others, assigns blame, and gives lectures, yet avoids addressing the legitimate questions that have lingered for years.

Below is a straightforward reflection to help the public evaluate his message more clearly.

The Unresolved Crisis of the Abuja Kidnappings

The Ambazonian people are still waiting for clarity regarding the abduction of our leaders in the Nigerian capital many years ago. This remains one of the most painful chapters in our collective history, and many believe Mr. Milan holds information that could illuminate what truly happened.

His continued silence — despite the gravity of the matter — has deeply troubled many who expected openness, humility, and accountability. Instead of addressing this long-standing wound, he shifts the discussion to vague notions of disunity. But the people deserve the truth, not deflection.

Claims of “Real Work” Despite Years of Absence

When Mr. Milan speaks of being distracted from “real work,” the obvious question arises:
What work has he been doing, and where has he been?

During some of the most decisive and painful moments of our struggle, he was not present, at least not publicly or in any way felt by the people. Now he has resurfaced with long essays but no record of concrete contributions, no explanation for his absence, and no evidence of sustained engagement with the struggle. Ambazonians are weary of rhetoric. They need verifiable effort.

A Tone of Self-Praise at a Time of Suffering

President Sako has often emphasized a timeless principle: the struggle must be brought to its rightful conclusion, not simply celebrated at its beginning. Against this backdrop, Mr. Milan’s reappearance to highlight his personal reflections appears disconnected from the suffering of ordinary people on the ground. If he truly believes he has played a meaningful role, he should present those contributions openly rather than imply them in passing.

A Conversation That Distracts Instead of Building

At a time when coordinated action is urgently needed, Mr. Milan’s essay introduces confusion instead of clarity. Before calling for unity, he must first demonstrate respect for the legitimate Ambazonian government, which remains the only structure established by the collective will of the people and led by President Samuel Ikome Sako. Unity cannot be preached from the sidelines.
It must begin with recognition of established institutions.

If he wishes to speak of unity, he must first answer the questions that Ambazonians have been asking for years: Where has he been? What has he been working on? Why has he reappeared now?
What role does he wish to play going forward Without addressing these concerns, his message cannot be taken at face value.

Repeating What Others Have Already Said

He states that unity must have purpose — which is true — but this insight is neither new nor groundbreaking. President Sako and other leaders have articulated this principle consistently for years. Mr. Milan simply echoes what has already been established long before his return. If he truly wants to contribute, let him begin by joining his Local Government Area and participating transparently as thousands of committed Ambazonians already do.

Accusations of “Politicking” Without Clarity

Mr. Milan suggests that certain individuals are engaged in politicking. If this is the case, he should be bold enough to speak clearly. Genuine leaders do not hint; they clarify. If politicking has truly harmed the struggle, then he owes it to the people to: define what he means, explain when he first identified it, describe the steps he took to address it, and clarify how his own actions did not contribute to the same problem. Without this clarity, his accusations seem crafted to serve personal narratives rather than the collective good.

His Own Contribution to Disunity

It is also important to acknowledge that Mr. Milan’s own actions and silences have contributed to confusion, mistrust, and fragmentation. His silence during the abduction of the previous government in Nigeria — a moment that demanded public leadership — still weighs heavily on the hearts of many. Silence in moments of crisis is not neutrality; it creates wounds.

Unexplained Activities and International Engagements.

There have been reports that Mr. Milan participated in meetings and conferences abroad under the name of Ambazonia. Yet none of these actions have been explained to the public. He owes Ambazonians clarity on: the purpose of those gatherings, the mandate under which he acted, the people he met with, the discussions held, and the resolutions, if any. Without transparency, these actions raise more questions than answers.

Recognizing the Only Legitimate Government

There is only one legitimate government of Ambazonia — the government established by the collective will of the people and currently led by President Samuel Ikome Sako. Other groups may exist, but legitimacy is rooted in the people, not in individual declarations or factions. Any attempt to create alternative “governments” only deepens division and weakens the struggle.

Where Does Mr. Milan Stand Today?

Ultimately, Ambazonians want a single honest answer: Where does Atam Milan stand in the struggle today? A persistent and damaging pattern has emerged: individuals disappear at will, reappear at will, then lecture the public on unity. The time has come for accountability, consistency, and clarity.

The struggle is greater than any one individual.
It requires those who lead to be present, transparent, and responsible.
