Letters to the Editor

The Amba Warrior. The Honorable Che Walter, writes to the editor of The Independentist on Millan Atam’s opinion: qualifies it “the outcome of a defaulters deception”.

Letter to the editor

Sir,

THE OUTCOME OF A DEFAULTER’S DECEPTION

Individuals whose roots are anchored in La République du Cameroun often inherit a worldview shaped by that system — a worldview where duplicity is normalized, promises are flexible, and betrayal is a political instrument. That influence does not disappear overnight simply because someone claims to have “seen the light.” It follows them. It molds their instincts. And in moments of crisis, it resurfaces.

This is precisely the problem with Atam Millan. His interpretation of symbols, alliances, loyalty, and even the meaning of unity is inconsistent, opportunistic, and deeply misleading. His shifting colors are not the mark of evolution — they are the signature of confusion.

One cannot preach purity after parading through contradiction. One cannot demand trust after a career in deception. One cannot speak of unity after consistently sowing division.

Those who repeatedly default on duty — whether financial, moral, political, or ideological — leave a trail of psychological debt behind them. And such a trail is not erased by sudden public declarations or emotional speeches. It takes years of accountability, consistency, sacrifice, and integrity to rebuild credibility.

So we must ask the essential, unavoidable question: Can those who have defaulted on their responsibilities, manipulated alliances, and abandoned moral obligations truly reform — or are we witnessing yet another performance designed to regain relevance? The burden of proof does not lie with the people. It lies squarely with the defaulter. And empty rhetoric will never be enough.

Hon. Che
