Ambazonia is not a province with a grievance, It is a people with a mandate a government and a president Dr. Samuel Ikome Sako recognized by his nation as its legitimate voice. Any process that excludes him, excludes the Ambazonian people

When a government runs out of lies that work, it turns to lies that sound holy. After fleeing the Swiss Process in fear of accountability, and after being exposed in Canada when manipulation could no longer hide under polite diplomacy, the Government of Cameroon has now turned to Rome, carrying the trauma of a kidnapped priest as a new bargaining chip.
In this sudden flight toward the Vatican, a new group has emerged from the shadows calling itself the Unity Warriors. They claim to speak for Ambazonia. They do not. Behind their letter lies a truth the world must confront. A regime drowning in fear is trying to use the Church to save itself.
Coercion is not peace
The letter sent to the Bishop of Bamenda tries to disguise captivity as compassion. It asks the Church to bless both the crime and the coverup. It turns a priest’s suffering into a diplomatic passport. That is not mediation. That is spiritual exploitation. Priests are not political leverage. Young Ambazonian lives are not expendable pieces on someone’s chessboard. Every wound in this conflict belongs to a real community We must never let the language of holiness sanitize the violence of power
A church under siege
The kidnapping of Father Berinyuy was not an isolated incident. Clergy in Ambazonia stand in the line of fire every single day. They bury the dead, Comfort the wounded, Pray with children in fear
Stand as moral witnesses where the law has collapsed. It is precisely because they defend dignity that they are targeted, When a priest becomes a hostage faith of an entire community is harassed. When fear enters the sanctuary, faith is shaken at its foundation. The Church must not be coerced into carrying the message of those who threaten it.
The line between faith and manipulation
Recent actions by state-aligned church voices have rightly raised concern. Photo-ops with those responsible for violence, Statements crafted in the language of the oppressor, Secretive engagements with political intentions. This was not coincidence It was choreography. The stage was being set. The altar prepared. The Vatican chosen as a shield for political theatre. But Rome must recognize, This performance has already been exposed. The only audience fooled is its own authors. If the Church comes, it must come with truth. The Holy See has a historic role in moral diplomacy, Yet any Vatican involvement must stand on a clear foundation. Justice before reconciliation, Accountability before ceremony, Truth before negotiation.
The allegations of atrocities in Ambazonia are well documented. A dossier is already active before the International Criminal Court. The Church must help accelerate the path toward justice, not delay it under liturgical smoke. A peace that ignores victims is not peace. It is permission to continue the crime
Nothing about Ambazonia without Ambazonians
There is a basic rule in international mediation
A facilitator must be accepted by all conflict parties. Today there is no seat for Ambazonia at the table. The regime seeks to negotiate with its own proxies and call that peace. This is not a misunderstanding. It is a strategy. An old French colonial playbook, dressed in Vatican robes
Ambazonia is not a province with a grievance
It is a people with a mandate a government and a president. Dr Samuel Ikome Sako recognized by his nation as its legitimate voice. Any process that excludes him, excludes the Ambazonian people
Why Yaounde fears Rome — and what it hopes to gain
This rush to the Vatican is not diplomacy, It is panic. Panic that the world is awake, Panic that evidence continues to mount, Panic that the lawful, Ambazonian government refuses to be erased Panic that accountability is coming. The Cameroonian regime fears Ambazonia
because Ambazonia has already survived everything designed to destroy it.
The truth rising
The question is no longer whether Ambazonia will be heard, but who will choose to listen before judgment arrives, The Church can be a light or it can be used as a shadow. Rome cannot wash away the truth. It can only decide whether to stand with it. Ambazonia stands Firm, Unbroken, Certain of its future. And no curtain in the Vatican can hide the sunrise of a free people.
