Letter to the editor of The Independentist news
Sir,
Permit me to begin by extending heartfelt appreciation to you and your distinguished editorial team at The Independentist for the sterling work you continue to do in informing, educating, and inspiring your readers.
Your recent publications have illuminated, with remarkable clarity, the historical and legal foundations of the Ambazonian quest for freedom. They have given ordinary citizens the intellectual tools to understand the legitimacy of our struggle and the moral courage to stand by it.
I was particularly struck by the eloquent and well-reasoned statement from the Commissioned Secretary for Communication, Dr. Martin Mungwa, in his response to Professor Patrice Nganang’s article “Tchiroma and Federalism.” His articulation of the government’s position on sovereignty, grounded in both law and logic, offered a rare moment of clarity in a debate too often clouded by emotion and misinformation.
To complement his lucid argument, it is worth recalling the landmark 2009 Resolution 266 of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights in Banjul, The Gambia, concerning the Southern Cameroons case. Such pronouncements from respected international legal bodies reinforce our right as a people to stand firm in our pursuit of self-determination—and they remind us that the justice of our cause is anchored not in sentiment, but in law, history, and conscience.
Once again, I salute The Independentist and its team of thoughtful journalists and analysts for their intellectual integrity and dedication to truth. You have become more than a publication; you are a beacon of enlightenment for a people in search of freedom and dignity.
Yours sincerely,
