Mahmoud Abbas fears for Palestine as Isreal intensifies attacks on Gaza.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas raises fears of Palestines extermination as he addresses the 34th Arab League summit in the Iraqui capital Bagdad.

The Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas, has called on Hamas to relinquish control of the Gaza Strip and hand over its weapons to the Palestinian government.

President Mahmoud Abbas made the call yesterday, as he addressed the 34th Arab League summit, just ending in the Iraqui capital Bagdad.

“We call on Hamas to relinquish control of Gaza and all factions to hand over their weapons to the (Palestinian) Authority,” he said.

As he commented on Isreals attack on Gaza as an open plan to exterminate Palestine. According to Abbas, the Palestinian cause faces an existential threat.

“The genocide in the Gaza Strip and the settlements in the West Bank are a colonization project,” he stressed, declearing that Israel’s killings and forced displacement operations in Gaza are part of a plan to undermine the two-state solution, as he called for a political process to implement it.

The Palestinian president called for the release of all prisoners and a long-term ceasefire in Gaza within the framework of the “Arab plan,” as well as the resumption of humanitarian aid to the region.

“We invite an international conference to be held in Cairo with the aim of financing and implementing the reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip,” he noted.

The 34th Arab League summit, which is expected to assess Israeli attacks in Palestine, as well as developments in Lebanon and Syria, comes after US President Donald Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, which unfortunately did not focus on a ceasefire plan for Gaza.
The Israeli military, on the contrary, has intensified its aggression against the Gaza Strip.

Abbas went calling on Hamas to close ranks with the Palestinian authority saying, “We want a single system, a single law, and a single army,” as he called for funding, reforms and development programs in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

“We are ready to hold presidential and parliamentary elections next year, as soon as the necessary conditions are met in the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem. We will continue reforming state institutions,” he concluded.

More than 400 Palestinians have died in the enclave over the past three days, according to figures released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

On the evening of May 16, the Israeli army announced the start of Operation Gideon’s Chariot, which will lead to the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza and the permanent occupation of the region.
