Russias President Vladmir Putin, has announced direct face to face talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine in instandbul Turkey on Thursday May 15th.
The meeting announced late yesterday in the Kremlin according to President Putin, is to present an opportunity to negotiate the end to the long drawn war in Ukrain and the possibility of a lasting strong peace.
This call for direct talks comes hours after European leaders urged Moscow to agree to a 30-day ceasefire.
Earlier on Saturday, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer travelled to Kyiv with counterparts from France, Germany and Poland to put pressure on Russia to commit to an unconditional ceasefire, starting Monday.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov later said Moscow would “have to think this through” –
President Volodymyr Zelensky, is yet to respond to this call for talks from Russia.
