Dear Ambazonians,
A few people are being deceived into believing that there are many separate governments fighting for the liberation of Ambazonia. That is not true. A country normally has one government, not multiple competing governments, and the same is true for Ambazonia. The legitimate government of Ambazonia is headed by President Samuel Ikome Sako.
Ambazonia exists as a state in the sense that it has a government and president, a flag, a national anthem, a constitution, a House of Representatives and ministries headed by Secretaries of State. It is this government — and the full structures of state — that speak to our eastern neighbour, La République du Cameroun (LRC), and to the world on behalf of Ambazonia. In April 2019 Ambazonians from many walks of life met in Berlin and endorsed the government then in place.
Anyone who attempts to usurp that government or to act in Ambazonia’s name without its authority is a traitor to the cause. In the course of our liberation struggle we face both traitors and infiltrators; it is important to be able to identify both. For now, let us focus on traitors.
Some Ambazonians do not recognise these traitors because they cannot fathom how someone would work against their own country. Yet history shows that betrayal for money or personal gain is sadly common — people have been known to act against their own communities in exchange for payoffs. Today, in our struggle to end LRC’s illegal occupation of Ambazonia, a small number of people are acting in ways that directly undermine our fight: they kill fellow Ambazonians, kidnap citizens for ransom, announce and enforce lockdowns that contradict government directives and sow confusion among the people.
These actions slow our progress. They are not mistakes or misunderstandings — they are betrayals. Despite their efforts, Ambazonia is on the road to freedom.
