Can The Nso Fondom solve the ongoing Southern Cameroons problem? An Anonymouse Elite of the Nso community ponders aloud.

Our forbears did not vote on February 11,1961 to join them as a colony of France and we are therefore backing out. Can our Nso elites understand this and stop making a mockery of resolving a national problem? No one in his sane mind hates peace but peace needs justice.

The Elite writes

How can a few people solve a national problem when the majority nationals are not merely battlefield losses but are not aware of the national problem?

I say this because Nso is just a spec in the eye of the national problem which is resolving the sovereignty problem of the southern Cameroons.
Our forbears were asked to join independent Nigeria or independent Cameroun to achieve independence. The fundamental question is have we achieved such independence by joining la republique du Cameroun? Should this question be answered nationwide or should it be the concern of a select few Nso elites? Will the jamboree of our Nso elites bring an end to this national quest?

I am afraid what they are doing is like adding small doses of medicine to a sick person which only helps in prolonging the agony but not taking away the cause of the illness.

If for instance la republic du Cameroun were a sovereign state herself we might have been thinking about resolving the issue in house but alas, the 1959 pact for continued colonisation which Ahidjo signed with France to become the first president of the pseudo independent state is still in vogue.

That’s why after 65 years of the pseudo independence they’ve had only two presidents both of them appointed from the metropolis and have carefully paved the way for the appointment of the third via another constitutional amendment by their rubber stamp parliament authorizing the incumbent to appoint his vice with the right of succession.

I wonder if our Nso elite are aware of this game plan or do they care only about what they as individuals can get out of the collective emasculation of a people? Of all the “former” 14 French colonies in Africa, only 3 have broken free and are exercising true sovereignty after kicking out the French. La republique du Cameroun is not yet ready to do same thing and liberate themselves from the colonial yoke.

Our forbears did not vote on February 11,1961 to join them as a colony of France and we are therefore backing out. Can our Nso elites understand this and stop making a mockery of resolving a national problem? No one in his sane mind hates peace but peace needs justice.
