Dr. Louis Egbe Mbua, the role model—not just for today, but for generations to come.
By Dr. Martin Mungwa.
In every generation, a few rise—not merely to succeed, but to show others what is possible. Dr. Louis Egbe Mbua is one of those rare figures. He is not only a world-class engineer and educator; he is a son of Ambazonia, and a symbol of what the Ambazonian spirit can achieve when fueled by excellence and conviction.
His story begins in the proud halls of St. Joseph’s College Sasse and CCAST Bambili, institutions that have birthed many of our nation’s finest minds. From there, Dr. Mbua soared into global academia—earning a BEng from Cranfield University, followed by an MSc and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Middlesex University London. But his brilliance was never just for personal gain—it was for the empowerment of others.
He was immediately appointed as a Technical and Teaching Associate at Middlesex University, and soon after, became an engineering consultant to multiple UK firms. From 2020 to 2022, he made history by serving as a Panel Tutor at the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education—one of the highest honours in global academia.
Today, he is Founder of Teach Engineering & Technology Solutions, a London-based STEM innovation startup, and Head of Vocational Engineering at Space Studio West London, a specialist aerospace institution. He is leading the charge to bring world-class engineering education to all, especially those who have historically been left behind.
But Dr. Mbua is more than an educator—he is a pioneer in clean aviation technology. His groundbreaking research on using hydrogen propulsion for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft is helping shape the future of sustainable aerospace engineering. His acclaimed paper, “Electric Vertical Take-off and Landing Aircraft (eVTOL) Concept Design and Propulsion Using Hydrogen,” presented at the Advanced Engineering Show UK in 2022, drew praise from engineers and academics around the world.
In 2019, he also presented a transformative model for teaching engineering through hands-on aircraft design—showing that when theory meets practice, students soar.
Dr. Mbua’s contributions have not gone unnoticed. He received the Conference 2.0 Excellence in Education Award (2024) and was named Fluxx Visionary of the Year in Engineering Education (2025). Yet it is his core belief that speaks loudest to us:
“Transform complexity into elegant simplicity so that all may understand.”
This is the heart of his mission: to make STEM education accessible, practical, and powerful—for everyone. His vision is bold and timely: by 2030, any person, from any village, town, or city—regardless of income or background—should be able to shift into a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, at minimal cost.
To us, the people of Ambazonia, Dr. Louis Egbe Mbua is a torchbearer. In a nation battered by war and betrayal, he reminds us that our genius has never been destroyed—it has only been exiled, waiting to return in power.
He is proof that the Ambazonian dream did not die with our stolen independence. It lives on in classrooms, laboratories, research centres—and in the hearts of men and women who believe in building, not just resisting.
Dr. Mbua is not just an academic success.
He is an answer to the lie that we are incapable.
He is a rebuke to the myth that Ambazonians must always beg.
He is a role model—not just for today, but for generations to come.
In him, we see the Ambazonia we are fighting to build: innovative, fearless, and free.
