Vallée du Ntem Serial Murders: Meyo-Centre Man in Custody, Confesses to the Killings

A 24-year-old man from the South Region of Cameroon has confessed to a series of murders that terrorized the Vallée du Ntem department in recent months, according to reports from the private television channel Equinoxe. Idriss Nko’o Zo’o, from Meyo-Centre, was apprehended by the gendarmerie during the night of April 23-24 as he and three accomplices allegedly prepared to kill a woman. The intended victim reportedly escaped with a neck wound.

During the recounting of events on April 25, 2025, Nko’o Zo’o admitted to being the sole perpetrator of the murders in the Ambam area, a town bordering Equatorial Guinea. These confessions refute earlier accusations leveled against non-local residents. The arrest follows the killings of three individuals in February and early April, which had sparked significant unrest in the community.

Following the murders, residents had taken to the streets to protest the crimes, directing suspicion towards non-native individuals. In response, the sub-divisional officer for Ambam instructed local canton chiefs to conduct a census of all non-native persons residing in their villages. Furthermore, a security operation was launched to monitor suspicious activity and gather intelligence, ultimately leading to the arrest of the primary suspect.
