Gathering in Foumban is not an empty political gesture, it is a calculated insult to the people of the British southern cameroons (Ambazonia).
THE FOUMBAN DECLARATION OF AUGUST 2nd 2025
We, Political Leaders and Candidates for the Presidential Election of October 12th 2025, Allied Movements and Patriotic Citizens,
Gathered in the Historic City of Foumban,
Committed to the democratic future of Cameroon,
Solemnly affirm our unwavering determination to confront the stagnation and existential threat posed by the regime in power for 43 years.
For more than four decades, the Cameroonian people have suffered systemic oppression, economic marginalization, and the stifling of democratic freedoms.
The upcoming elections are not just another ballot, but a decisive moment for the survival of our Nation.
Therefore, we declare:
- Unity in Action;
- A New Vision for Cameroon;
- The mobilization of all Cameroonians: youth, women, men, civil society, and the Diaspora, to rise up, as one, determined;
Aware of the people’s expressed will for change,
WE COMMIT OURSELVES TO THE CHOICE OF A CONSENSUAL CANDIDATE AROUND A COMMON PROGRAM; AND, WE INVITE THE PEOPLE TO PLAY THEIR ROLE AS CITIZEN BY VOTING MASSIVELY.
The United People will always be Victorious;
Done in Foumban, on August 2nd, 2025
Signed: By six political leaders.
REBUTTAL TO THE DECLARATION, Issued by The Independentist – news desk
The so-called Foumban Declaration of August 2, 2025, is not merely an empty political gesture — it is a calculated insult to the people of Southern Cameroons (Ambazonia), a people who have endured nearly a decade of genocidal war, mass displacement, and state-sponsored terror without a single act of solidarity from the very signatories who now claim to want to “mobilize all Cameroonians.”
Where were you in 2017?
When Paul Biya’s regime unleashed tanks, helicopters, and death squads against peaceful protesters in Southern Cameroons — teachers, lawyers, students, farmers — where were these “patriotic citizens” now suddenly awakened to democratic ideals?
As entire villages were burned, more than 3,000 citizens killed, over one million displaced internally and across borders, what did you do?
Not a word. Not a march. Not a single statement.
You were either silent, complicit, or busy negotiating parliamentary seats with the same regime you now pretend to condemn.
Why now — and why Foumban?
Is it not ironic that you gather in Foumban, the very site of the 1961 betrayal where Southern Cameroons was lured into a false “federal union” with the Republic of Cameroon — without a treaty, without ratification, and without any representation?
Foumban remains a deep scar in Ambazonian memory, a symbol of betrayal and annexation. To invoke its name while ignoring the reality of Ambazonian resistance is either deliberate provocation or inexcusable ignorance.
A “New Vision”? Or old lies in new packaging?
This so-called “New Vision” is nothing more than recycled rhetoric, wrapped in French slogans and pseudo-republican pageantry.
You speak of consensus, yet no liberation movement from Southern Cameroons was invited.
You speak of democracy, but operate within the rigged electoral framework of ELECAM, controlled by the very junta you criticize.
You speak of unity, but your silence remains your only contribution to Ambazonian suffering.
To the People of Ambazonia:
Let it be known: we will not be deceived by carefully written, French-backed manifestos disguised as liberation projects.
The Ambazonian struggle is not about regime change in Yaoundé, but about ending a colonial occupation that has lasted since 1961.
Our path does not go through stolen ballots, but through the complete restoration of our sovereignty.
To International Observers:
Beware of false prophets in Foumban robes.
The same opposition that ignored genocide now seeks legitimacy on the backs of our dead.
Their newfound voice is not a moral awakening, but a desperate ploy to seize international attention as Biya’s grip crumbles.
To the Signatories of the Foumban Declaration:
As long as you do not acknowledge the genocide in Ambazonia…
As long as you do not say the names Ngarbuh, Kwakwa, Muyuka, and Buea…
As long as you do not demand justice for the Kansas City 3 and the countless Ambazonians rotting in prison…
You remain irrelevant to our people.
History is watching. And this time, the people will not be deceived.
