The people are not blind. The people are not forgetful. And the people will not be fooled.
The Independentistnews issues this uncompromising revolutionary communiqué in response to growing reports that the regime in Yaoundé is preparing to resurrect the office of Vice President — not as an instrument of shared governance, but as a political decoration designed to pacify, divide, and distract. Let it be known that: we reject this trap in its entirety.
A Title Designed to Neutralize, Not Empower
The circulating concept of a “new Vice President” is structurally empty. It is reportedly an office without constitutional succession, without decisive executive authority, and without the power to alter the direction of governance. Such a position is not reform. It is containment. It offers visibility without influence. Responsibility without power. Prestige without protection.
An Old Strategy in a New Packaging
History has recorded similar maneuvers. When institutions begin to strain, regimes often manufacture symbolic concessions — new posts, new language, new ceremonies — while ensuring that real authority remains untouched. This proposal appears to follow that pattern.
By creating an office that can be granted, reshaped, or withdrawn at will, the system preserves centralized control while projecting the illusion of inclusion. It is a political pressure valve — not a constitutional transformation.
Our Warning to Political Elites
To any individual being courted, vetted, or encouraged to accept such an appointment: Understand the weight of this decision. Accepting a position that lacks constitutional substance risks aligning personal ambition with structural stagnation. It risks lending legitimacy to reforms that change presentation without redistributing power. History remembers titles. But it remembers consequences even more.
Our Message to the International Community
External observers must resist the temptation to celebrate announcements before examining their architecture. Institutional reform must be measured by enforceable authority, legal guarantees, and genuine participation — not by the creation of offices whose powers remain undefined or limited. Stability cannot be manufactured through symbolism alone.
Dignity Is Not Negotiable
The struggle for meaningful political voice has never been about ceremonial inclusion. It has been about the capacity to decide, to act, and to shape the future.
A Vice Presidency without succession rights, without decisive authority, and without constitutional permanence does not resolve grievances. It risks deepening them.
Independentist News therefore calls on all stakeholders — political leaders, traditional authorities, civil society, and the broader public — to scrutinize this proposal with clarity and courage.
The path forward demands structural honesty, not decorative innovation. We will not exchange dignity for decoration. We will not trade substance for spectacle. And we will not mistake political theatre for genuine change.
