HAMAS releases Edan Alexander the last American hostage held as peace talks to end war in GAZA proceed.
The 21 year old US marine officer Edan Alexander born in New Jersy, was serving in an elite unit at the Isreali border with Gaza when he was captured some 580 days ago.
Edan Alexander was handed over to his family at the hostage Square in Telaviv on monday 12 May 2025, where he was rejoining his family after 19 months of captivity.
Hamas says the release of Edan Alenxader is part positive efforts to reach a seize fire deal in Gaza to allow humanitarian aid into the territory.
Meanwhile Isreali Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the release of the 21 year old, will lead to a seize fire or the freeing of Palestinian prisoners.
It should be noted that Edans release, has been a result of the Trump Administrations negotiations with Hamas without the involvement of Isreal, nursing fears that the Isreali government may not be putting the release of hostages as a priority in the peace process.
Edans release comes at the eve of President Donld Trumps official visit to the Middle East in his second mandate in the white house.
