OPEN LETTER TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AND POTENTIAL MEDIATORS
To: The Government of Norway, the United Nations, and all International Facilitators,
As the conflict between the Federal Republic of Ambazonia and La République du Cameroun (LRC) enters its most decisive phase in 2026, we have observed the quiet withdrawal of various international teams from the mediation table. While the silence from Oslo and other capitals may be interpreted as a pause, we believe it is a result of a growing realization: the Biya regime in Yaoundé is not seeking a partner for peace, but an accomplice for manipulation.
The Cameroonian regime’s primary objective in inviting international teams is not to resolve the root causes of the war—the restoration of Southern Cameroons’ independence—but to obtain judicial and political cover. They use the appearance of talks to stall international sanctions and pacify the UN Security Council while simultaneously carrying out a campaign of attrition and defunding against our people.
For any international effort to be credible, it must move beyond the “secret corridors” of Yaoundé and adhere to a transparent Protocol of Engagement. We, the people of Ambazonia, hereby outline the mandatory standards for any legitimate mediation:
- Official recognition of the government.
International mediators cannot proceed in a vacuum. A facilitator cannot treat a colonizing occupier and a people seeking self-determination as having equal moral standing without acknowledging the legal status of the parties. You must officially contact and recognize the Government of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia as the sole legitimate political authority mandated by the people. - Rejection of “Proxy” Diplomacy
The Yaoundé regime has a long history of “teleguiding” the struggle by attempting to hand-pick “agents of compromise” or unverified social media influencers to represent our cause. Legitimate diplomacy requires direct, official contact with the President of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia and his cabinet. Any attempt to bypass the Government is a violation of international diplomatic norms and will be viewed as a hostile act of subversion. - Neutral territory and International guarantors
History has proven that LRC cannot be trusted to honor its word. Therefore, any substantive discussions must take place on neutral ground—far from the reach of Yaoundé’s military and intelligence services. Furthermore, the presence of the United Nations and the African Union as third-party guarantors is non-negotiable to ensure the implementation of any signed agreements. - Sovereignty is the Substantive Agenda
A mediator who demands that “Independence be taken off the table” before talks begin is not a mediator; they are an enforcer of the status quo. The core of this conflict is the illegal occupation of Southern Cameroons. A credible process must be willing to address the restoration of our 1961 sovereignty.
Conclusion:
No More Theaters of Deception. From the failed Swiss process to the Canadian mirage of 2023, our people have seen enough diplomatic theater. If the Norwegian team has quietly departed, we applaud their discernment in refusing to be manipulated by a regime that has spent the last eight years burning our villages and detaining our leaders like the Nera 10, who await a final verdict on March 19, 2026.
To any future facilitators: The door to peace is open, but the key is not held by the “merchants of doubt” or the digital phoneys on social media. The key lies in official, state-to-state engagement with our Government.
Freedom is not a gift; it is a right. We will not be teleguided, and we will not be sold.
The struggle continues—Let us be wise as serpents and hold our lines!
The Patriot
