We are home to news on Cameroon and the CEMAC region. We are dedicated to honest and reliable reporting.
We are the voice of the Cameroonian people and their fight for freedom and democracy at a time when the Yaoundé government is silencing dissent and suppressing democratic voices.
In 1984, Paul Biya restored the name “La République du Cameroun” — the exact name of the state that had existed before unification in 1961. By that single act, he confirmed that the so-called union was dissolved and that Southern Cameroons stood alone.

For more than sixty years, the people of British Southern Cameroons — today’s Ambazonia — have endured one of the most systematic betrayals in modern African history. At every stage, promises have been broken, agreements violated, and the right to self-determination crushed. From this long record of deceit, one truth stands unshakable: Ambazonia rejects all forms of “selection” imposed by the colonial regime and categorically refuses negotiations in enemy territory.
The Chain of Betrayals
It began in 1961, when the people of Southern Cameroons voted in a UN-organised plebiscite to enter into a federal union of equals with the Republic of Cameroun. Article 47 of that federation guaranteed that no constitutional change could be made without the consent of both partners. That safeguard was destroyed almost immediately.
On September 1st, 1961, during a scheduled UN meeting to discuss the modalities of drafting a genuine federal constitution, France and the Republic of Cameroun walked out. Instead, they unilaterally amended the existing French Cameroun constitution and presented it as a so-called “federal constitution” — a fraudulent document with no preamble and no recognition of the status or position of Southern Cameroons. This was annexation by deceit.
At Foumban, what was presented as a constitutional conference was nothing more than theatre. Instead of a Union Treaty deposited at the United Nations, Southern Cameroons was confronted with a pre-drafted constitution from Yaoundé and Paris — the blueprint of assimilation.
In 1972, Ahmadou Ahidjo staged a fraudulent referendum to abolish the federation, in direct violation of Article 47. A Unitary State was imposed without Ambazonian consent.
In 1984, Paul Biya restored the name “La République du Cameroun” — the exact name of the state that had existed before unification in 1961. By that single act, he confirmed that the so-called union was dissolved and that Southern Cameroons stood alone.
The pattern continued: the 1996 constitutional amendments, the doctrine of Communal Liberalism, and later the Glossary of Decentralization, all paraded as reform, were nothing but chains of assimilation.
The charades piled up: the Grand National Dialogue, the Swiss Process, the Canada Monologue. Each one failed because they were never genuine. None recognised Ambazonia as an equal party.
Meanwhile, the CPDM regime stopped being a political party and became a corporation of cronyism, looting SONARA, AMTEL, and every national asset. France remains the majority shareholder in this Cameroon Corporation, and Paul Biya merely serves as its President of the Board of Directors.
No Compromise
From this history, Ambazonia has learned the most painful lesson: every compromise has produced betrayal. Every concession has tightened our chains. Every so-called dialogue has been used to entrench colonial domination. And always, behind the betrayal, stands France — the majority owner of the Cameroon Corporation.
That is why Ambazonia’s position is uncompromising and unshakable:
No to selections. Ambazonians will not legitimise fraudulent elections, imposed leaders, or colonial charades.
No to negotiations in enemy territory. Any genuine talks must be held in a third country of our choosing, under credible international guarantors.
No compromise. Because every past compromise — from Foumban to the fake Canada process — has ended in betrayal.
Yes to self-determination. Until genuine conditions are met, the struggle will continue, without pause, without apology, and without retreat.
Freedom or Nothing
Ambazonia was not born by decree in Yaoundé. It was born of betrayal, sustained by sacrifice, and carried forward by the blood of our martyrs, the resilience of our refugees, and the determination of our diaspora.
The verdict of history is final: Ambazonia will never again be deceived by France, by Yaoundé, or by their international enablers.
Our path is set. Our people are resolute. Our principle is eternal: No Selection. No Negotiations in Enemy Territory. No Compromise. Freedom or Nothing.
