Letter to the Editor
Good Afternoon,
Current events have left me deeply unsettled and confused. Some people called for a lockdown, and we were assured there would be none. Yet, we have now lived under lockdown for three weeks and counting. The government has further announced a serious lockdown lasting until October 14th.
This means the very worry I expressed earlier has sadly come true.
Now, with elections around the corner, I hear warnings of “hell” for anyone who dares to go out and vote. Between you and me, this seems to give unintended legitimacy to the CPDM — a regime that has consistently refused dialogue on matters of our pride and sovereignty.
So, I ask sincerely: Where do I belong in all this?
Respectfully,
A Homeland Patriot
Editorial Desk Rebuttal to Homeland Patriot
- Acknowledge Concern and Clarify Context
Homeland Patriot, your concerns are genuine and deeply respected. We understand the frustration when events on the ground appear confusing or even contradictory. Elders and patriots like yourself, who have carried the burden of our struggle, deserve clarity and reassurance.
But let us be clear: Ambazonian leadership has never abandoned its responsibility to educate, guide, and protect our people, even under the most difficult conditions of exile. While there is no full territorial control, the mission remains to clarify, not confuse; to educate, not deceive.
- On Lockdowns and Messaging
You noted that assurances of “no lockdown” were followed by lockdowns. Here is the reality:
Uncoordinated lockdown calls often emerge from individuals or factions outside official structures. These may create confusion. The role of responsible leadership is to educate and clarify, not to encourage blind obedience.
When lockdowns are officially declared, they are strategic, purposeful, and tied to protecting lives, asserting sovereignty, and sending a clear international message.
The difference is between random calls and strategic directives. As was emphasized last week: “When initiatives arise, even if imperfect, we do not destroy — we educate and correct.”
- On Elections and the CPDM Regime
You raised concern that resistance during elections may legitimize the CPDM. Let us state without ambiguity:
These elections are not ours. Ambazonia is not part of them. Our sovereignty is not subject to Yaoundé’s rituals.
By warning our people to stay away, the intention is not to legitimize CPDM but to delegitimize their fraudulent exercise. Every Ambazonian who abstains exposes the lie of “one and indivisible Cameroon.”
The aim is not to create “hell” for ordinary people, but to deny the occupier the false legitimacy it craves through coerced participation.
Thus, resistance is not recognition — it is rejection.
- On the Role of a Government in Exile
A government in exile cannot operate like a conventional state with full control. Its responsibilities are:
Education – helping our people understand events and directives.
Diplomacy – mobilizing international support for the cause.
Coordination – guiding resistance with unity of purpose.
It must be judged not by what it lacks, but by how it sustains the struggle and keeps the vision of sovereignty alive.
- Where Do You Belong?
You asked: “Where do I belong?”
The answer is simple: you belong with Ambazonia — with your homeland, with your people, and with the millions who refuse to bow to oppression.
Yes, events are confusing at times. But what is constant is this truth: Ambazonia achieved independence on 1 October 1961, and no fraudulent election or colonial army can erase that reality.
Final Word
Your voice matters, Homeland Patriot. Your concerns are heard. But let us not forget: confusion is the enemy’s weapon. The task is to remain steadfast, to educate ourselves, and to guard our sovereignty against all attempts at distortion.
As has been reminded:
“When initiatives arise, even if imperfect, we do not destroy — we educate and correct. That is the true work of a responsible leadership.”
Stay the course. Remain steadfast. Let history record that you stood with Ambazonia’s freedom.
