“The Federal Government will never approve measures that deliberately target schoolchildren or worsen the daily hardships of our people,” the statement stressed.

Buea, August 30, 2025
In a strongly worded press statement dated August 30, 2025, and copied to the international community, diplomatic missions, and human rights organisations, the spokesperson of the Ambazonian Government in Exile, Dr. Martin Mungwa, has called on Ambazonians at home to reject any unofficial lockdown calls issued by groups and individuals acting as proxies of the regime in Yaoundé.
The caution follows a communiqué dated August 25, 2025, circulated on social media by the AGOVC faction of Ayaba Cho Lucas, announcing a so-called lockdown across Ambazonia from September 8–26, 2025.
According to the government’s statement, an old video of the Ambazonian State Army (ASA) was deliberately circulated alongside the unauthorized call in an attempt to lend credibility to the deception. Dr. Mungwa described this as a manipulative act designed to inflict further suffering on the already burdened population, especially schoolchildren, as has tragically occurred every September since 2017.
Message to the People
The government reaffirmed that neither President Dr. Samuel Ikome Sako nor the Ambazonian State Army (ASA) has authorised any such lockdown. It reminded all self-defense groups to remain vigilant and not allow themselves to be instrumentalized as political tools.
“The Federal Government will never approve measures that deliberately target schoolchildren or worsen the daily hardships of our people,” the statement stressed.
At the same time, Dr. Mungwa clarified that, consistent with past advisories, parents must continue to assess the security situation and take individual responsibility for their children’s schooling during this period of hostilities.
Dual Objectives in the Days Ahead
The Ambazonian Government reaffirmed two key objectives for the coming weeks:
Ensure a successful celebration of Ambazonia’s National Day on October 1, 2025.
Prevent La République du Cameroun’s fraudulent presidential “selection” of October 12, 2025 from being imposed on Ambazonian soil.
The government revealed credible intelligence that the regime in Yaoundé intends to set up military-controlled “polling camps” where civilians will be arrested and coerced into voting, thereby fabricating legitimacy for the CPDM regime.
Complicity and Betrayal
According to unimpeachable sources, the regime has reportedly offered enormous sums of money to General Capo, commander of the ADF militia operating in Gwarkang, Bui, to facilitate elections in the area. This explains his sudden endorsement of illegal practices such as seizing National Identity Cards from passengers on the Bamenda–Kumbo highway.
Our sources further allege that the scheme includes targeting schools and enforcing boycotts or lockdowns in order to present the Ambazonian State Army as “terrorists” to the international community. The empty schools would then be repurposed as polling camps for the October 12 elections.
Shockingly, General Capo is said to have called for lockdowns and boycotts in localities such as Shisong, which hosts the only cardiac center in the Central African subregion. These activities, sources insist, are consistent with a 2018 secret partnership between the ADF, Cameroon’s Ministry of Territorial Administration, and the Ministry of Defence—a scheme designed to derail the independence struggle.
The Bigger Picture
The ADF, under Dr. Cho Ayaba Lucas—currently facing war crimes and crimes against humanity charges in Norwegian courts— has long been implicated in the killing of both Ambazonian fighters and civilians. The government in exile therefore calls on the Ambazonian people and the international community to remain vigilant and to see through these manipulations aimed at discrediting Ambazonia’s legitimate quest for freedom.
